Mission Statement
1. To provide professional standards of animal care, rehabilitation and assistance to injured, sick, rescued, or orphaned wild birds The Alaska WildBird Rehabilitation Center, Inc accepts sick, injured or orphaned wild birds from private citizens, animal control, nature centers, law enforcement persons and state and federal regulatory agencies. Professional staff supplies the highest quality medical care and maintenance to all wild native avian species including raptor, corvid, passerine, and waterfowl species. A fully equipped medical infirmary exists on site. Service available include diagnostics, X-ray, orthopedic repair and specialized diets. Alaska WildBird Rehab Center Inc. now offers assistance to all Alaska native and migratory wild birds. The goal is to return all viable individuals to the wild. More than half of the wild birds admitted to the rehabilitation facility were ultimately released in the the wild. |
2. To educate the public about Alaska migratory and resident wild birds The Alaska Wildbird Rehabilitation Center Inc. educational efforts include actively presenting programs on the natural history of raptors, corvids, passerines, and waterfowl. These informative, factual presentations are given to schools, scouts, nature organizations and all other interested groups and are attended by thousands of people each year. Live birds, including birds of prey, are often used in these educational offerings. Alaska Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center Inc. also communicates key conservation and educational messages through publications including pamphlets, fact sheets and posters. Through public education, a more tolerant, appreciative, informed public will value the ecological niche that these important Alaskan and migratory species fill in our ecosystems. |

To provide a humane example for others Alaska Wildbird Rehabilitation Center Inc. has provided its unique services to the wild birds and the people who find them, always trying to be helpful and caring to both.
